This was the hub of it all, commerce as the Gaijin knew it. Something about it was immediately mesmerizing. How the streets flowed with people and sound, the smells of food and the music that the streets created as life, chaotic life, flowed through them. Though it was far from how the Rokugani lived their lives there was some beauty to how this place sung. For a moment she was just a girl taking in the big new city in it's most direct form. Nearby, Edogawa walked through the streets with Nari and Lopez beside him. Having settled on this side of the island, he wanted to familiarize himself with the different neighborhoods and marketplaces. The Hoof was certainly a different atmosphere than he was used to. And just as they were passing near perfumerist from opposite direction, a dog broken loose tripped ladder on which a man with a big amphora stood. The man lost balance and spectacularly collapsed, while the amphora slipped off his hands and after a picturesque light crashed on the stone awning above them, dousing all around in camphor oil. It's intensive menthol smell was both pleasant and dizzying, but the camphor sprinkled all over their heads caused painful spikes of chill. The high-pitched wailing of the man who was in pain after the fall and miserable as he had just lost a very precious amphora was making the scene of corresponding mayhem surreal, as no less than two dozen other people were affected. |
