Having returned from the other side of the island, Khenbish had gratefully changed out of his armour and into the light-weight black kirta and sirwal, the humidity of Kameyama Jima bothered him. As the sun began setting, but before the day started to cool, was the Tarkanate's preferred time to stop by Mustaffar's. The day crowd had filtered away to the caffeine work out of their system before bed, and the night crowd who stayed out late and liked the hot drink against the night chill weren't about yet.

It was the only time of day Khenbish could hope to get one of the booths to himself. Of course, his appearance put most patrons off their coffee. Whenever he sat in an already occupied booth, he quickly found himself alone. As he arrived at the shop, there was a single booth free, one of the civets was napping on the table, stretched out to take up as much of the space as possible.

The Moto slipped into the seat, careful not to disturb the sleeping feline.

Yasuhiro was on a quest, a quest for tea. After some time trying to find one, he stumbled upon a place that at least looked like it could serve a proper cup of tea. It seemed to have a vaguely similar aura at the very least. Stepping inside he paused, looking around for a place to leave his sandal's before walking inside.

A frown crossed his features as he noticed there wasn't one, and he found himself looking around trying to figure out what exactly he was supposed to do. You didn't just walk inside with your sandals on did you?

The newcomer had an unmistakable presence, the kind that intimidated folks, but Khenbish was accustomed to the effect his appearance had on people, and was less impressed by the imposing Lion. A serving girl brought a silver pot, tall and narrow and shaped nothing like a tea pot should be, to Khenbish's table, gently nudging the civet to make room.

The Moto thanked her, cocking a vaguely curious eye at the newcomer, an eye that seemed to stare with a strange intensity.

It was rather barbaric, but after a few moments of consideration Yasuhiro stepped onto the floor of the beverage house, there was no reason to dirty his tabi after all. The tea pots seemed to be rather odd, but hopefully that was just a gaijin thing.

Looking around he spotted the strange man looking at him as he tried to find a open table, and offered a polite nod in greeting. He didn't really care for how the man was staring, but you really couldn't expect manners from a foreigner.

Khenbish's left eye seemed to glare coldly, but whatever interest he had found in the foreigner's appearance had faded, and he turned his attention to the pot. He poured the contents into a small cup, very much like a tea bowl or a sake cup, but the brew was far too dark for tea, and the entire coffeehouse was shrouded in the sharp aroma of roasted coffee beans.

The Moto set the pot close to the wall where the civet was less likely to knock it over, absently stroking the feline's flank as he lifted his cup and sipped from it.

A final look around the establishment revealed the only table bot full was the one with the strange looking man, who had been staring at his until a moment ago. He'd thought for a moment that the man would offer a invitation, but it seems he had been wrong.

Still left with nowhere left to go he made his way over. Offering the other man a polite bow he gestured to the chairs on the other side of the table. "Is this side free Senor?" He asked, in heavily accented Mereanese

"Go ahead," Khenbish grunted, and he too spoke with an accent that didn't mesh with language, though it was markedly different from the imposing Lion's. The civet on the table looked up, rising and turning around to investigate the newcomer.

This close, the stare of Khenbish's left eye seemed even more intense, a bottomless black pit, ringed in an earthy green the colour of the dense jungle or the deepest ocean. Scar crossed that disconcerting eye, across his nose and lip, a narrow slice of ear was missing, but he'd washed his face of the kohl he wore like he wore his armour, and his beard and hair were groomed and oiled.

With a nod the Lion moved to take the seat, waving over a servant girl, or at least what he assumed was the servant girl. "Tea." He told her plainly gesturing towards whatever the man across from him was drinking. It was likely his ill luck that the woman only spoke mekhem, still with a nod she went to fetch his order.

He's cursed worse then that Ronin girl. His grandmother commented with a chuckle. You certainly know how to pick partners for drinking, boy. Yaushiro for the most part ignored it, he had his own oddities after all. "I am Matsu Yasuhiro no Koritome, it is Kind of you to share your table." He offered in greeting.

"That's a mouthful," he replied, sipping his coffee. There was a deep scar running down the side of his neck, near the hollow of his shoulder, and he reached up, unconsciously running a finger along its length. "Khenbish; and it's no kindness. I ain't Khargan of where people sit."

The civet flopped onto its side once more and stretched. It would have kicked over the coffee pot, but Khenbish seemed accustomed to the wild cat's behaviour, and shifted the scalding hot vessel before the civet could injure itself.

Yasuhiro fought off the urge to from, he had not idea why these barbarians couldn't be courteous, perhaps it was a simple flaw in their birth? That seemed likely enough. "Nice to meet Kinbest -san." He offered anyways.

Turning his gaze towards the civet on the table, he frowned softly. "Would be rude, to ask what the animal is?"

Khenbish cradled the small cup and considered the feline a moment, trying to recall the word he’d heard the proprietor use, “civet cat. They are nice enough, have free run of the place. Cats more important than customers.” He sipped from his cup and set it down, it wasn’t quite empty but he filled it again from the pot.

You arrive today,” he observed, “roko-ghan, yes?

So the owner of this establishment was apparently daft, caring for his pets was one thing, but putting them above his customers has another entirely. He'd have to see if he could find another establishment that served tea in the future.

"Yes, came to dock this afternoon." He replied with a nod. "Spent long time on sea to get here."

Khenbish gave a slight nod of agreement, "This island is a long way from everything, I think." The serving girl finally brought a second pot of steaming coffee for the newcomer. There was no indication that she had misheard, misunderstood, or intentionally ignored his request for tea. She simply prodded at the civet, causing the cat to glare at her and leap down and saunter away, placing the pot and the cup in front of Yasu, and walking away without comment.

A frown crossed Yasuhiro expression, she hadn't even poured the first cup for him, no courtesy at all these foreigners. Still, he had come for tea and tea he would have. Looking at the odd pot for a few moments, he picked it up in the way he had seen the man across from him do so. The design was awkward, but he manged to fill his cup while only spilling a little of the liquid.

Setting it back down he picked up the cup. "So it is long Sea trip from where you live to here?" He asked polietly, before lifting the cup up to his nose and sniffing carefully. The smell was pungent, and it caused him to wrinkle his nose in distaste, still he took a sip anyways. Only to discover what must be the worst tea he had ever tasted. It was a act of will to swallow, but he managed it, though a moment later the cup was placed again on the table.

Khenbish grunted in affirmation, and an eyebrow twitched at the newcomer's reaction to his drink, "something wrong with your coffee?"

Coffee? What in the kami's name was coffee? "Is not tea?" Yasuhiro asked, looking at the curious liquid. It vaguely resembled a black tea, which is what he was thinking it was. It certainly did not taste like it though.

"You won't find tea at Mustaffar's. Coffee is," Khenbish's merenaese had improved by leaps and bounds in the last week, but he paused now, scouting for the words. "Seeds. Seeds from inside a round fruit. They bake them and make, like tea from the seeds."

Well at least it was made from a plant, and not the kami knew what. "Thought was tea." He murmured with a small frown, he had no idea how he was goign to manage to drink an entire cup of this, not to mention a pot.

"Many places for tea nearby?" He asked at last, before picking the cup back up, at the very least he would finish this little bit.

Khenbish might be heartless, but he wasn't thoughtless, he nearly drained his own cup once more, "careful at the bottom." He tipped his cup so that the other man could see the muddy silt in the bottom, fine and gritty as a river bed. "'Spose there are tea places, don't drink it much myself."

Stroking the scar on his neck thoughtfully, "try looking for an almaqhaa." The unfamiliar word had a throaty quality, almost as if the Tarkanate man had coughed up the last syllable.

"Thank you." Yasuhiro offered a dip of his head as thanks for the advice, whatever remained at the bottom of the cup it didn't look appetizing in the least. Bringing the cup to his lips he took another sip, if nothing else he could solider through the taste.

"I will try to find." He added as the man offered the name of some sort of establishment. Though, he didn't think he'd every be able to pronounce the name correctly. "Good place to look?"
