"Almaqhaa," Khenbish enunciated, "teahouse." He shrugged, "no promises, I only drink tea in the morning."

"Almaakachaaa" He tried to repeat the word, though he obviously butchered it. "I will look." The lion needed a good cup of tea right around now. Maybe even an entire pot, though he would never admit that to a crane.

Khenbish grunted, the attempt was good for someone unfamiliar with the voiceless velar fricative. He signalled for another pot of coffee, sitting back and waiting with quiet contemplation.

The man seemed to truly like this coffee thing, so Yasuhiro decided to refill his own cup, might as well he had already bought it after all.

"What you do in city?" He asked after a moment, more to prevent a moment of awkward silence then anything.

"Waiting on new orders. I'm a soldier, I was told to come here, told I'd be given instruction on what next. Good thing I'm patient. You?"

"I explorer. First Officer of Boat." He offered with a slight smile, filling away the man was a solider awaiting orders for another day. That was a important piece of information after all. "Stay here for now, will explore more in future."

"Boat's need repair and food. People need relax."

Khenbish didn’t smile in return, he just touched that scar, as if it still itched after all this time. Interesting, and he, too, took mental note. Must not be any real jobs left in roko-ghan, sending their men out here to look for snipes. Still, he had sailed here as well, and understood how uncomfortable it got.

Many people? I met a friend of yours earlier today, he said you brought passengers.

"Passengers?" He frowned softly. "No passengers on my boat. Just explorers." The young Lion took a slow sip of his coffee, fighting off the urge to grimace. "Who tell you these things?"

A connection formed, and understanding flashed in his good eye. "I don't know the merenaese word, people who talk for others? Inter-mediums?" as soon as he said it, he knew the word wasn't right. That Ide girl would know, he thought, she's one of them.

"Ah, we have those. Help make things not war with words." He confirmed with a nod. "No know word either, best I say be talk people." Whatever the other man had said, he hadn't understood it either. Maybe Yasuhiro should of spent more time learning this infernal language.

Khenbish mmm’d, satisfied that they understood each other, even if words escaped him for the moment. It will come to me tonight, when it’s too late. That tended to be the way of such things.

Yasuhiro let the silence stand, finding no reason this time to intrude on it. It didn't help tgat talking in the foreign tongue waa exhausting, and the silence was a nice break.
