Usually port towns or even cities in general have some central streets. The West Port is no different, except the Tangled Rope runs not from the port, but (roughly) parallel to it. Even a claim that it runs is a bit inaccurate. More like sways, bumps and tumbles like a carefree drunkard in stupor at dawn. Don't hope to figure out your route by names or numbers. Either you learn how to navigate this worst dream of any urban planner, or you need a guide. Besides, cutting purses is not rare. By far. It is from this artery that many smaller streets or just narrow veins between ramshackle buildings branch out both directions, toward the quay an up the hillside. All kinds of businesses are conducted here, with the emphasis on all, even those nobody around has heard of but you've come looking - something always can be improvised for the right money. The core Rope hosts mostly food shops, with workshops, houses and shadier enterprises relegated to one of the side-streets, though as there is no firm rule, there are also many exceptions. |
