Those were spells Ran wouldn't know, but magic nonetheless. Massive illusion created by heaping small ones. The serpent had not been an illusion by this definition, and the destruction it had unleashed upon the shore - real.

Yasuhiro was no expert on magic, or spirit realms, honestly this was far beyond his knowledge on battle as,well. What he did know though, was that something needed to be done.

Shouting a few last commands to the men, he began stalking towards the tower, doing his best to dodge any incoming cannon balls along the way. All the while muttering prayers to bishimon under his breath.

Eventually he arrived at the base of the tower, and pressed his hand against it, trying to figure out how solid it was, and if there was perhaps a way to destabilize it.

Hikari knew all too well what was going on. What wasn't clear to her was how to proceed. Attacking would likely be futile, but there was the possibility of leaving... then again, with the way they were so indiscriminately targeting everyone in the area, that probably wouldn't suffice to end this madness. And then there was the matter of duty to considered too, of course. She could not leave before seeing those in need be brought back to safety.

Illusions? Was he seeing things? Lifting a rock in his hand, he waited for one of the cannons to appear, before tossing it at the cannon.

They had to find a way to stop this thing from hindering the rescue operation one way or another.

What was supposed to be funeral rites suddenly erupted into utter chaos. After Suihime mentions the Sakakku spirits he looks over to Hikari.

"Seppun-sama, what should we do to handle these things?" He asks her.

Meanwhile, he decides that it is best to make sure that the Prince is safe and he moves to protect Jama and assist with escorting away if his entourage is not already doing that.

Something akin a giant flatulence in both sound and stench was released from the gate of the sand castle, right against those who tried to storm it. Some of the mariners of Yamato Maru flew out with it. It looked like mujina were not going to give up the ship.

The erupting stench drove Ran to retreat for a deep breath of fresh air. She narrowed her eyes at the castle.

Suihime turned to look at Hikari. "Then what do you suggest, Seppun-san? We cannot remain, there are too many that need to be rescued, and it's clear that these creatures have no intent of stopping."

She pulled up one of the people who was helped out, one that looked the least hurt, and said quietly to him "send for a Teppodaka unit from the Ashitae Maru. Go, quickly!"

A ship full of creatures of Sakkaku was not something that could be dealt with at the moment, and it seemed that's what they had to deal with. As the cloud of gas belched forth, Yasu backed off. He would concentrate his efforts to saving as many as he could, The fake cannon fire would just be something the had to work around.

Approaching the shoreline once again, he moved to take command of the rescue efforts again. Sending people with boards; pieces of the damaged ship most likely. To help people, and give them something to cling to as they made it to shore. If he had managed to get one of the small boats for landing off the Yamato, he'd board it and travel out to rescue people himself.

Ringo nods to Hikari's assessment and continues escorting the Prince and his entourage away from danger... mischief? The flatulence is thankfully merely mischievious and not dangerous yet.

Suru's training and Yasuhiro's instincts to take command over the effort with the Prince in mind protected Jama from most of the consequences of the event. Yajinden and Tsugiko were a little less lucky in terms of unplanned surfing, but in the end all four got safely evacuated from the area, Ringo having their backs.

People - mostly alive, but also some bodies - were being retrieved from water, mostly by means of flotsam and debris for rowboats from Yamato Maru were not available. It was becoming clear that without a clear strategy involving spellcraft in will be very hard to win back the ship hidden behind the illusion.

She needed just a moment to think. All of this had come so sudden and unexpected, and all of it was... in some sense... her own fault. If everyone could just be... quiet... for just a moment. She closed her eyes, trying to drown all the voices and chaos out, while trying to think of how best to approach this situation.

A novel idea for a ritual to banish the mujina came to Hikari's mind; it would require preparation and coordination with others though to make it effective. And in this chaos, it could not be done.

Plucking the knowledge from the corners of her mind, Hikari opened her eyes again and raised her voice so that hopefully most of the people present would hear.

"There's a ritual that can banish them, but it will take a day to prepare. It would be wisest to return tomorrow!"
