As the priests and minor clansmen concentrated on the Castleboat, Yasuhiro continued to do what he could for the rescue operation. They would lose people today, there was no doubt about that, but they needed to minimize their loses. |

The living flared in Ran's awareness as bright spots, though where Yamato Maru was swirled as a latticework of chasms in the fabric of the world. It was still not as unspeakably terrifying as the gigantic black rift in reality that still remained beneath the waves. The serpent hadn't left. |

She came back to herself. "Gusai-sama! No! Get out of the water! The serpent remains!" The terror at what she saw was clear as crystal in her voice. She ran to the waters edge but would not enter. "Matsu-sama!" she called out to the Lion in distress, hoping to get his attention. |

The Lion turned his eyes towards Ran, as he hadn't been able to procure a boat from the Yamato he was still on the shore directing the rescue operation. "I suspected as much, Muhaki-san." He offered calmly. "It's why I haven't taken to the water myself. If it returns I plan to sink as many arrows into it as I can manage." "For now though, what would you have us do? Abandon those still in need of assistance?" |

Those who could be saved without bravado were eventually saved, and the sand castle eventually spewed out what was left of the crew of Yamato Maru. The bombardment wouldn't cease until the Explorers withdrew from the beach. Most as heroes of sorts, who saved lives despite a supernatural threat. Well, all of them, except one. The spectacular fiasco of the burial ceremony weighed on Hikari, even without anyone's deeper awareness of the real causes of this suddenly display of the rage of Sakkaku. /scene --- [Hikari coverts 1 rank of Glory into 1 Rank of Infamy (Inept). She also gains 0.5 Notoriety (Troublemaking Witch of Foreign Gods, Curse Them!), with the expectation of all who matter that she will fix this. A meeting on the problem is called by Yajinden for EM8.] [All others in the thread who joined the effort gain +0.2 Glory (Saviors) and -0.2 Reputation (WTF just happened on our beach?!).] [Yamato Maru is at Capacity 0, but not sunk. It can be repaired through effort, after its demujinafication. So far no-one has been divested from their duties on it and DP spendings remain - lost crew can be locally recruited. If any changes of staff happens in result of how the matter is handled further, the DPs spent on the ship will be reimbursed or remitted. It's fate will be the subject of the meeting with Yajinden, so all interested parties should attend.] |
