The meeting with the Doom of Bachelor's had been intense. Anzai still felt embarrassed about how his performance with the tea had gone. Had he overstepped with his wishes? He was analyzing the whole scenario, sitting in the small garden attached to the Scorpion casino. He had also done one last thing. A message sent to an old friend. Get some perspective. Who knew... |

The old friend in question arrived on time and quietly. His unlit kiseru in one hand he casually looked around before approaching. A naturally born Kitsu might have bowed at this point. Not Yuki, he whispered in a low, sultry voice instead. "Well Anzai-kun. It's been some time since I have received a message like this. Let me guess, the Lady Miya has your mind doing cartwheels?" |

"The whole prospect does, Yuki-kun." He wasn't wearing his mask tonight. Not here. Hair loose about his shoulders, shorter locks framing his face. He watched his friend for a long moment, miscolored eyes not leaving the Kitsu's own. "I may have overstepped when I requested what I wanted from her. Trusting her judgement, of course." He didn't pace, but took a few steps closer to the Lion. "You can guess who I asked for. You saw. I could barely keep my On during the party." He was perhaps a bit more loose lipped than normally reserved. But they had known each other for quite a long time. |

Yuki prevented rolling his eyes through shear force of will. "A Crane? Would you be bringing her into the clan . . . your clan? I can't see you in their courts, Anzai-kun. You'd be as out of place there as I was in the Tombs." |

There was a grin there. "Ours... My Clan. I don't see myself marrying out. I don't want to, Yuki-kun. Everything I am, I dedicated to the Scorpion. You know this." He was soft spoken with him. It was pleasant, being in the garden with him. Memories of old times. Not so out of place, this time. "And they would try to keep me out of their courts. More so because I'd just paint their courts red with all the little lies they think they don't tell." He laughed, quietly, chuckling. "How do you handle the Tombs? All that... rigidity?" |

Yuki leaned his head back and looked up at the stars. "I am not entirely sure I have. Handled the Tombs that is. Every moment since I got there I have been working to find my way out of there. Knowing I would be leaving each Winter to represent the Lion at a Court helped." He twirled his kiseru and then it disappeared up his sleeve, he doubted he'd need it for meeting. "My family doesn't fully trust me yet, but they have provided the scrolls I needed. They think it is to learn their ways, and in one small regard it is. In reality those skills and the gaijin languages I have learnt were to get me here. Sometimes I think I am the only one to wear this mon who is looking forwards. The rest of them seem to be always looking to the past." He smiled and a little sparkle came to his eyes. "Enough maudlin tales. Did I tell you my wife is expecting? Such joyous news. I have no idea who the father is. It might even be mine!" |

"Such is the danger of political marriages. Probably furthers my reasoning for wanting to bring someone into the Clan." He moved closer to the lion, standing to his left. Looking up at the night sky with him. "Your family is unwise to not trust you. Should anything happen to you, don't they know what would happen? You're still every part of the Scorpion." He looked at him, smiling softly. "I had heard. But not from your lips. I don't know if I ever would believe the child is yours." He grinning, before leaning against his friend. "I have never even see you look at a woman." |

"She traced back the night of conception as being the one I got the appointment to the Explorers confirmed. I was so happy I more than overindulged in the sake supplies at the Tombs. Enough that I remember absolutely nothing of that night. If Junko took advantage of that . . . then good on her. Perhaps I have put a little Scorpion into the Lion when they tried to put a lot of Lion into my Scorpion." He gestured with his fan, almost brushing Anzai's hand. "Is there somewhere we can sit nearby? It has been a long day. Perhaps in that direction . . . away from the building." |

"Either way, I am happy for you. Especially if you managed to get a little Scorpion in to your wife." He had to laugh at his own joke, crude as it was. Nodding to the Lynx's question, he led the way. He had noticed the way his hand was almost brushed. Were his own fan not in his hand, he would have reached out. The Garden expanded out of the back of the casino, only lanterns lighting the dim path. Anzai walked slowly, enjoying the company of his fellow Bayushi courtier. "I don't think there will be anything but long days ahead for us, Yuki-kun." He motioned towards a bench, inviting him to sit with him. "I didn't think we'd ever sit like this, again. I was very surprised when I saw you at Miya-sama's party." |

Anzai wouldn't say too close. His own smile remained, as he shook his head. "I'd hardly think anything could defeat you. After all, you can swim..." He allowed his posture to relax against Yuki. Looking at the other man, he had a slight flush to his cheeks. "I'm glad. I rather like it, too. Some of my best memories, Yuki-kun." |

Anzai flushed deep red. The scent of the other man, the proximity. He turned, looking to the other man, pressing his forehead to the Lynx's. "You were the only, Yuki-kun." He felt foolish saying it. "Women, there have been a few. I know a few other men had looked at me the way you had." Even as recently as this afternoon. "But just you." |

Anzai smirked. He was sure he could have. The opportunities had been there. But there was something else. Looking into the Lynx's eyes, he was sure his own very different eyes could appear slightly unsettling. But Yuki had never commented on them. "I only do what I want." One would think Anzai was passive. Ome would be wrong. His own hands moved to Yuki, one grabbing the back of his head the other the hem of the kimono. Pulling the man close, the lecherous Scorpion pressed his lips to the Lion's. Warmth flooding his chest. Somewhat bittersweet. Unlike Yuki, he wasn't getting married for politics. Anzai only ever did what he wanted. |

The kiss was returned. If Anzai wanted to be in charge here, then the Snow Kitten would let him . . . for now. The hand resting on the arm moved around Anzai's shoulders and he pressed in against him. "Well, my Rose in black and red, you haven't forgotten the basics. Let's see what you can whisper about tonight." He kissed Anzai again, pushing against him. |

The Scorpion lay in the grass next to the Lion, their clothes disheveled, his long, raven hair loose about him. Breathing deeply, he let a hand move along Yuki's stomach. A small, contented smile. "I almost forgot what you were like. Almost. But I didn't forget how much I enjoyed... this." He flushed as he spoke, eyes half lidded. |

"Everyone would enjoy this with you. It's in your blood." He fumbled in his kimono sleeve for a moment before producing his kiseru and finding the right inro to load it from. "Ah the Tombs are nothing like Kyuden Bayushi. Not even a Kakita boy to hunt through the gardens." |
