Sanjuro plopped on the undergrowth like a bag of grain. Any shot at him regaining consciousness was apparently not related to external stimuli.

Worriedly, Kenzo turned him over, letting him lie face up. The continued unresponsiveness of the larger man was cause for concern. It would be a difficult trek back through the jungle. Perhaps urgent care was required.

Out came the knife. His expression grim, Kenzo did his best to extract the remaining stingers from Sanjuro, slicing the flesh just a little if necessary; after all, it was most likely venom just below the skin.

The blood that spilled was ominously darker. It looked like the venom of local hornets had a way of spreading quick and was largely responsible for his coma. Maybe he would have reacted better to it if he had his full strengths, but when they had stung he had already been severely weakened by handicapped respiration, pain and blood loss. There was not much beyond the removal of stingers Kenzo could do about it.

Kenzo did his best to clean away the envenomed blood with more water and cloth. But there was only so much he could do. It was time to get him back.

Grunting, Kenzo hefted Sanjuro up onto his back. "This would be a lot easier if our roles were reversed. I think all that smithing makes you stronger. And heavier." It took a great deal of effort to haul him away, but Kenzo managed, heavy step after heavy step.

He was spot on Sanjuro being a heavy lad, with all his bulk usually held together with muscles now limp. It was a hard way out of the thicket, and it tired Kenzo exponentially so when he finally got back to the beach he fell flat on the sand and couldn't move for a good while, exhausted. Fortunately, the sailors from the fleet soon came to help and they were both moving back to the ships.

[Kenzo is Fatigued until next full rest.]
