While one group she would seek out today probably did not care or notice her semi-formal and traditional wear, Utsusemi still felt she had to keep up to expected appearances with the other group now at the shrine.

With her swept-back white hair fluttering slightly in the sea breeze, the Lady Uxue approached the shrine to Kasuga.

(expecting Seppun Kaiya :) )

Wataru walked to the temple, not far away from his own home, to check on the new things that were going on there. The samurai talked to the people as he approached, they did not seem to be very happy with the incoming monks and the new state of the Shrine. They had lost their place for stories and drinking, even though there were so many places on the island to do so as well.

Calm plis, He was able to get to them though his words were basic, and many times pronounced inaccurately, This is holy place, so is normal for holy ones to take care. Things maybe chinge little, but is for gods not to be angry and be bad with island people. If we are bad to gods place, then they will be bad for us.

Alongside Utsusenu traveled two others, Sakia and Seppun Kaiya herself. Seeing the opportunity to perhaps lend a hand with some of the Explorers goals on this island she felt it only natural to join the woman on the small journey to the Shrine to Agasha Kasuga.

There was a sense of familiarity to have a student of the Kakita beside her, Utsusemi mused, before focusing on looking for the monks first. As she heard someone speaking in broken Merenaese to the old men, she figured she would start with the others.

The strike committee was consisting of a dozen old folks taunting the monks in a rather coarse way, flailing with broken bottles, spitting on the ground, offending their mothers, their private parts, their health conditions, their shaved heads, their wear (including the shape of their sandals), their diets and the byproducts of those diets in solids, liquids and gas... They were creative.

The sohei guarding the entry to the honden weren't too disturbed. Probably because they didn't understand a word in Merenaese.

That they didn't understand Merenaese probably helped a great deal, though Utsusemi, as it would probably have led to bloodshed sooner than later.

"Gentlemen," she raised her voice over her usual volume, as she had picked up that the foreigners were used to being a lot louder than the average Rokugani. "May I have your attention, please."

It was not a language that Kaiya, or Sakia for that matter, understood. However both women remained near Utsusemi's side. Kaiya doubly so in this instance, finding the need out of knowing no other way to help but to be ready for the worst of anything. Understandably so, crowds of angry folks before her was starting to both become too common and a bit too worrying.

The Gusai overlooked the old men attempting against the monks, his gaze was an attempt of intimidating them, "Stop! You need to anger the gods to come tell stories? He was outraged at their behavior towards the monks, understanding what they were saying. He stood in the way between the old sailors and the monks, with his hands on his hips. The sea will angry, your stories can be told same without being bad. You call the fury of gods on you! Stupids! The samurai then appealed to their own believes, The ninth will hangry with you and your sons.

The appeals at least made them quieter and willing to listen, though far from conceding anything. One geezer gave a feral look to Utsu and Wataru.

"Fook ye. Ye're thye onesies who let thye basterds intoo eur hoom. New ye're gloatees. Goatsies withe goatees. In yer pantees syngeene shantees. Khehekhehe."

An old geezer started to dance a mocking dance, patting himself on his dry, nigh-skeletal no-buttocks.

Utsusemi glared quite openly at the Mantis. "Don't rile them further, Gusai."

The old geezer dancing earned an eyeroll, as she focused back on the group as a whole.

"There's no reason we can't talk this out sensibly. Let us all calm down," a brief glare to Wataru, "and reach a solution that works for everyone, yes? Is there one who speak for you as a whole?" the white-haired lady asked, hoping there was maybe someone leading the rabble of old men so she didn't have to try to speak to an entire group.

Kaiya looked to Sakia, a few quick hand motions and the younger woman stepped closer toward Utsusemi's side with a purpose.

"If the moment allows, if you would inform Seppun Kaiya-sama exactly of who these people are and what this situation is she would be most grateful," Sakia spoke and then slipped back and away. Arriving once again at Kaiya's side. Merely keeping a wary out on the gathered crowd and now the Gusai beside them who seemed rather familiar.

"They are retired men who live at this shrine, but are not monks nor do they seem to take care of the place. We hoped it would be allright if the monks who came with us helped with the shrine here, but there seems to be some... misunderstandings... " Utsusemi explained in a quiet tone. "These men are upset about the monks' presence."

Kaiya did not signal more of a response for Sakia to offer, but the girl still offered Kaiya's thanks to Utsusemi for the information regardless. Though, Kaiya's stance slightly changed, more defensive and with an air of disgust. They were men with apparently little merit to speak of. Further than that Kaiya did not waver from her support of Utsusemi's desire to find compromise from that realization alone.

"Yeah, I know a perfect solution, Missy Angelface." One of the geezers pointed his finger at Utsu. "Get them out of here! They're yours! It's our place, build your own. If you need to fit those loonies somewhere, I recommend a whale's shithold."

Only a slight twitch at the corner of her eye showed her irritation with his choice of words and lack of respect, but otherwise she kept her cool as she linked her hands together in a posture of calm. Clearly, civility and courtesy was a lost art on these old geezers. Angel-face? I will have to ask Bellena about that one.

"It is only a temporary solution, seƱor, until their temple is constructed. In the meantime, it is quite noticeable that this place is in disrepair and in need of assistance - these people are putting their time to good use to help out. You do not want rotting beams to fall down on your heads, or eroded walls to collapse in a storm, correct?"

"These are our rotten beams and our disrepair. We didn't ask for their assistance, we were doing fine. FINE! FINE! They are changing our place for good without asking what we want! Even if they leave, what nightmare we'll be left with!" In anger the man lost control of his spit and started sprinkling it around.

How incredibly short-sighted. She instinctively stepped back a little as the man seemed to have lost control of certain parts of his face.

"But what of those who come in the next years, men like you, who will also need a place to stay? I would not think those who have experienced as much as you have would call this a nightmare?"

"Since when is a home of divine belonging to someone? Specially those who are clearly not hully men!" Wataru was playing the tougher guy in the scene with the sailors, despite his body being not one of a warrior, but he was a pretty decent shooter, "your claim to place is because of using it while it was never of you. If you want to live in Shrine to Fortunes of Rokugan, you must behave properly as one whu is worthy enough to be front the fortunes." Though he struggled to find the words, he was able to carry his message out, or so he thought. "You want me live in temple to your gods and make dirty?"

"Gusai-san... stop lying," the urge to facepalm was palpable in her tone as she looked at the Mantis. For a fellow Rokugani, the subtle shift in attitude was as clear as day; she was quite displeased with him. "Please, just... speak with the monks instead, perhaps? Let me handle this."

The message was clear: the Agasha was not approving of what he was doing or saying to the gaijin.

"Why should we care? We've done our due, and now we can't live out the rest in peace? That's the crime here!" the vocal geezer replied. He looked at Wataru with fury. "Fuck you."
