"You're right. I do." he admitted. "But, without trust, I cannot gain the allies and support to restore my standing in full. There are things happening out here that I need to be a part of, for Hantei-no-kimi and for myself."

Fufu sniffed his hand over and got interested in barking on a bumblebee to the side.

"It's definitely imported, Senor. And the pleasure is shared. Especially that you seem to be good with raunchy little critters like my Fufu."

She approached Kenji and passed the hold of Fufu's leash into his hand.

"Shall we walk?"

"Walking is healthful for raunchy little critters," Keiji agreed with a small smile, accepting the dog's leash. He turned to escort the governor down the garden path. "Pleased am I to walk among such beauty. Honored Governor is well today, one hopes?"

"I assume you meant walking along such beauty, but I ascribe this to your imperfect command of the language, Senor." She laughed, producing a fan to cool herself and wave off the bees. "Earlier this morning it's been a bit chilly so I've stayed longer among sheets and got more beauty sleep. Surely you consent, Senor, that warm bedchamber is far superior to the cold one, something you must have easily discern in the course of your explorations."

Fufu pulled Keiji in hot pursuit of the bumblebee.

"Explorers not often enjoy such luxuries, but honored Governor speaks truth: a warm bed is better than a chilly one," Keiji agreed with a smile. "One cannot fault her for making such a wise decision."

"Oho, mighty hunter has scented game," the Lion said with a chuckle as Fufu pulled him after a bumblebee. "But does Fufu dog dine on wasps? Perhaps too spicy to eat."

"Ah, so you recognise the superiority of a warm bed. I am glad we are like-minded." Yubari chuckled. "He has already eaten a bee once, and as you see is alive and barking. So either Fufu is so foolhardy that he never learns or so seasoned that he doesn't mind."

Had a cousin like that,” Keiji said with a friendly smile. “New lessons hard to learn sometimes; so many still cling to old ways. I hope to be better; old ways good, but much in world to learn from. Travel to Kameyama Jima has been good for this.

"I am glad to hear that, Senor. Could you get into some detail on what has been particularly educating?" She fanned herself gently, fluttering with lashes when looking away, so it was noticeable only from a sharp angle, but in contours.

"Many interesting peoples in Kameyama Jima," Keiji expounded in his somewhat accented Meraenese. "Many unusual goods for sale and trade. Many beautiful flowers on this island." The Lion gestured at his surroundings with one arm in a way that could've been interpreted to mean the tropical gardens... perhaps.

"Oh, you have a florist in you, Senor?" She chuckled with the slightest lacing of sultriness. "Now I can't stop wondering about all those flowers you have smelled and scooped nectar from. Nor can I stop imagining you as a mighty hornet doing so."

"No florist am I," Keiji admitted. "But only blind man cannot see great beauty when it appears before him. One cannot fault hornet for drinking deeply from sweet nectar found between flower petals. For hornet's life is short; tomorrow it may die."

"One indeed cannot." The governess bit her lip, looking over the yellow parts of Keiji's garment. "Though intentions and actions don't always come together. Can hornets really drink that deep into the inner nectars?"

Waters drawn from deep wells are sweetest,” Keiji replied, with a slight lick of the lips. “Hornets and hummingbirds know this secret; they thirst for delicious nectar.

"I somehow find it likely that you wouldn't be opposed to tasting my secret honey." She smirked, still biting his lip. "I keep some bottles of a beverage called mead in my cellar, it is honey-based. As you seem to be an expert on the sweetest nectars, I'd like to know your opinion. Perhaps in a day or two?"

"Noble Governor is persuasive; I cannot refuse," Keiji replied, bowing deeply. "Nor would I wish to. Would be honored, I, to taste her sweet honey. Until that time?"

He stepped closer and picked the Fufu's leash from his hand. "Until that time, Senor." She said in lowered tone.
