The mantis wore a respectable attire when he entered the establishment. From what he had heard, this a place where they could taste a wide variety of alcools and he had grown curious.

While this was more of a shop, tasting rooms were still available this late...although they were unlikely to tolerate drunken stupor.

Kenzo didn't have time to go back to Yomogiu to change; he wore the same thing he'd gone on the expedition with, or perhaps with a borrowed garment from Susumu's ship. He looked a bit tired, but still full of excitement from the journey.

"What an interesting place." Kenzo said, looking curiously around.

''It certainly looks like it Mirumoto-san''

Susumu advanced further and inquired about a tasting room

''Many alcools from across the sea...have you tasted wine yet?''

A moment's hesitation and Kenzo shook his head. "I have not." He said. "Although I've heard that it's made from grapes?"

He chuckled. "Of course, sake doesn't really taste like rice, so I'm not sure if that's helpful or not."

The lion on the other hand had made time to change, which explained why he was a little late arriving. The kimono he wore was a simple one in the colors of his clan, but it was in far better shape then he had been wearing.

Bowing to the two other men upon his arrival, he offered a greeting. "Good evening Gusai-sama, Mirumoto-san."

''Matsu-san'' Susumu bowed to the arriving archer

''I'll ask you the same question Matsu-san: have you tasted wine?''

For a moment Yasuhiro thought of pointing out that the mantis had mentioned sake on the boat, and not whatever vile gaijin concoction wine was.

He let it pass though, merely shaking his head. "No, I've not yet had the chance Gusai-san."

''It is an acquired but it is enjoyable, I assure you. I must admit I still prefer sake, however''

The servant eventually lead them to the tasting room

''I don't think we will drink much, this is more for tasting. I'll reserve the heavy drinking for our Hiruma friend.''

"Hmmm, yes." Kenzo said, nodding as they were lead into the next room. "Tasting sounds ideal; I may have more duties later tonight." He briefly frowned.

He smirked. "And no doubt Hiruma-san would find tasting unsatisfying. He'd been there a rather long time, after all."

"I agree, it's best if we all keep our wits about us." There were multiple dangers in this city after all.

Yasu followed along with the pair as they entered the tasting room, eyes carefully scanning the area.

''Certainly''

They were finally appointed a room in which the Mantis invited his guests to sit.

''Do you wish to try new things or keep it to sake?'' he ventured

Kenzo's eyebrows went up. "You've made me curious about the wine." He gave Yasu a sidelong glance. "But I will defer to your wishes on this, mina-samas."

"Wine will be fine." Yasuhiro said, adding his agreement. It seemed to be what the Mantis and Dragon wanted after all, and he didn't want to give the Dragon more ammunition to poke him with.

"Does it come in different types? Like sake?" Might as,well know a bit about what he was getting into.

''We will ask about it...'' the Mantis replied as he oppened the lists of choices

''Hmm, there seems to be white ones, red one, something called 'Porto' and then a division by locale...I think?''

"Interesting." Kenzo said, his eyebrows going up. "I have no insights to offer about 'porto'. But red and white seem likely to come from very different grapes. Unless the process is different, but then why would they both be wine? Sake and shochu are different drinks."

He shrugged. "Perhaps one of each of those?"

"I'm fine with whatever the two of you decide. More options seems wise though. Perhaps we'll better know what to expect if we run into it sgain."

There was a pretty large chance they would do just that as well.

''Perhaps small glasses from a porto and suggested wines for beginners?''

He closed the wine menu

''I agree with you both, lets go with that.''

After a short discussionwith the waiter, the testing glasses were brought.

"My my." Kenzo said, peering curiously at the glasses. "I suppose I should have expected, since one is called red, and another white, but they're so colorful."

He glanced at the other two, smiling. "Lacking any other reference, perhaps color is the best way to decide which to start with. Do any of these speak to you?"

"We could go from dark to light, or light to dark." Yasuhiro looked at the glasses carefully, finally picking up the darkest colored one and giving the liquid inside a careful sniff. It didn't smell too terrible at the very least.

"Unless one of you have a better suggestion?"

''Light to dark might be better'' the mantis suggested

''Stronger teas are darker...if the same logic applies here starting with lighter one will help with the taste.''
