Post subject:  Understanding of a Dragon [Day 2, Early Morning]
Walking the lanes of the hedge Maze within the Dragon's Garden Seppun Kaiya reached a delicate hand out against the wall. Brushing the leaves of the plant walls as she continued along. Sakia close behind as the two kept a leisurely pace for their stroll through the gardens. Taking the sweetness of the morning air fully into their lungs. Things were pleasant here, pleasant smells and pleasant quiet. Little to disturb a thinking mind.

Now they just needed await one other...

Susumu just came back from the markets to settle his loans and buy the first part what was needed for his ship's cargo. His step was decisive, clashing somewhat with the serene allure of the Maze and gardens. He stopped for a moment and looked around before spotting Sakia and her mistress.

''Kaiya-san'' he said with a bow and an uneasy voice

Sakia went to speak, the usual number, but Kaiya raised a light hand and silenced the girl before she got even a word out. Bowing in turn Kaiya offered a thoughtful look before glancing off in the direction she had been traveling. Inviting Susumu further into the Maze alongside her.

He squinted his eyes in the direction of the maze, were she pointed. He had a line to annoy her but he figured it was not the time.

He nodded and followed her in.

For some time there were no words, just a gentle pace that seemed to be going nowhere. All seemingly intent on driving any man of action near insane with the monotony or peacefulness of it. However, before too long Kaiya raised a hand and summoned Sakia forward. Placing herself somewhere between but just behind the two the young woman had a good line of sight on Kaiya's motions.

Kaiya's hands moved, signals and signs that surely had some meaning as Sakia was quick to adapt the motions to speech, "What are you intending with the current affairs, Gusai Susumu-sama?"

He observed Kaiya's hand gestures then turned his head to her interpret as she spoke

''What do you mean?'' he gave the impression he might not have known a few crucial details

"Have you not already been informed of the betrothals?" Sakia's words rang out just as Kaiya's hands moved. Kaiya's hands tensed, seeming to move again but held back for now. With her attention fully on Susumu she awaited his response.

The mantis tensed as well, recalling a bad moment

''I know that I have been denied Suihime-sama's hand in marriage...and that she is now betrothed to my clan champion.''

He took a deep breath

''Is that what you wanted to talk about?''

Kaiya offered a nod, and then her hands moved once again, as Sakia translated, "I do not know if you have been informed of yet, Gusai Susumu-sama. However it is to," there was a pause only slight that made it clear Sakia was forced to change the wording slightly, "Seppun Kaiya-sama that you will be betrothed. An arrangement Miya Odorihime has seen to with Seppun Kaiya-sama's consent."

"There is merit in this situation," she added as an afterthought.

His faced expressed incredulity when he heard the news, rage came after that. He turned around and paced furiously for a moment

''That witch'' he said with a snarl ''Betrothing me to my best friend's love?''

He calmed down, thougths churning. He narrowed his eyes

''Why did you agree to this?''

Taken by surprise Sakia jolted back a step to make room for Susumu's passing, while Kaiya herself seemed to watch with a detached interest for a moment. A level of coldness that was learned, and learned well. Ice to the fire.

Though her heart beat in her chest Sakia's duty was not over as Kaiya's hands moved to action once again, "Because," despite the excitement Sakia's words remained calm and direct. It almost seemed to match Kaiya's outward appearance more than Sakia's at the current moment, despite this they continued, "there is opportunity in the situation. You and I are betrothed, people with a similar problem. Those that we truly love are unreachable, pulled away from us by circumstances beyond our control but it need not end there. Together, as husband and wife, we can find a way to work this situation into something we desire. Not something that could easily be done if we were promised to any other."

Kaiya paused there, looking to Susumu and seeing how he processed that information before continuing.

''I thought as much'' he replied ''She found a way for Edogawa to be with you''

He calmed himself but clearly was still not pleased by the situation

''My love is unreachable but yours is not. Should you chose to go to him I certainly am not going to stop you.''

Anger vanished from his face, replaced with something more akin to resolve

''Benten might have denied me but that need not be the case for you and Edogawa''

Kaiya held up a hand, halting him but not his steps just his thoughts. Then adding with Sakia, "That is not necessarily so Gusai Susumu-sama. There is more to this story than a bitter ending but we shouldn't speak of it any further today. After our departure find us again but until then please show patience. Maintain calm, be patient and do not allow yourself to be overcome with emotion. Allow yourself to feel the hope of everything you desire and let that remind you to not do anything rash. One misstep and you may lose everything."

Kaiya gave him a look and then looked directly at Sakia as she signed what came next. Sakia in turn watched Kaiya, confirmed what was requested and then looked to Susumu.

"Seppun Kaiya-sama wishes me to reiterate that we must speak of this another time. Until then please do not do anything rash," Sakia spoke. Finding some time to have calmed herself down.

Saying that he did not seem pleased by anything going on was an euphemism

Kaiya bowed to Susumu, glanced to Sakia for the girl to do the same and then just before parting Sakia added, "Seppun Kaiya-sama will find you when the time is proper, Gusai Susumu-sama."

He gave her a nod ''Thank you''

With that, he waited for them to depart. He then turned around, watched for onlookers, then picked the single most beautiful flower he had in his sight. He played with it for a moment, rolling it in his hand, before crushing it beneath his fingers with a spiteful glare.

The good men he once might have been, slowly dying
