In a relatively unfrequented corner of the old Little Aqahba there stands a deserted brewery. It actually precedes the quarter. It once belonged to Ra. There is not much known about this individual other than he was a brewer of wheat beer, and that he had come here before the Unicorn, and may have even prospered for a time but either perished or vanished right after the first colonists from the Tarkhanate arrived on the island. A few people tried to take over his assets, some even with some brewing ability, but neither stayed long. Al-Kuhul from here was not seen in a while in any market. The building's one wall is actually the wall of the district so it remains in shade for almost all day, but somehow its interiors are as hot as if they had been exposed to full sunlight, or as cold as the night in the Western Wastes, one changing into the other at random. It's a two-story affair but most of the old brewery occupies the space of both stories so the floor is just partial. It looks like it might be having a basement but there seems to be no entry to it. Pictographs carved in the wooden walls are not too legible any more but they seem to be showcasing people with animal heads dealing with what looks like lying bandaged people. |
