There was a small frown at the question. "Simple polite etiquette Susumu-kun. I assume you would have studied it among the Mantis? Or are you concerned that what you have studied may not be at Imperial Families standards? We can test this if you wish, and I can correct any obvious errors."

"Well there is many levels to etiquette of course. The etiquette of tea, how to act around superiors that aren't going to be enticed by your delightful charm" Suihime smirked "my mother is very proper, as one would expect of someone who has ties to the Throne. She will be judging you. Not everyone in the Imperial Families is as charming as me."

He stroked his chin

"When it comes to mother, formal is your best side."

Suihime sighed.

"Please understand that while I do not share my mothers opinions, I understand her views. It's her duty to arrange marriages, and she puts that ahead of anything else. She doesn't view it on a personal basis, but on a clan basis; what does each clan stand to gain, what do they stand to lose. It appears cruel, but it is how marriage goes."

"Every clan, great and minor, has much to gain from a closer relationship with the Imperial families. I'd say the Mantis are already seeing a benefit, neh?" Suihime pointed out, before continuing "what the Imperial families stand to gain from the daughter of the Imperial Matchmaker marrying out to the Mantis is perhaps a little more difficult. An Imperial doesn't marry out easily."

"In truth I did not really consider what the Mantis would gain from being closer to the imperials...I just want you."

He finished his sentence with a devilish smile, looking into Suichan's eyes

Suihime was caught out by Susumus comment, her fan quickly drawn instinctively to cover her face, her eyes meeting his. "Ah...well...that's good to know" she replied with a blush "and I think highly of you also Susumu-kun. I'm certain you will be able to find a way to make this work."

Yet here I am, with you, pushing you to reach greater heights, so that we can be married." She closed her fan, a look of determination on her face. "You should not doubt my commitment Susumu-kun."
