Shoot shrewdly and sharply.

Thanks for the game!

Were there any exciting things that players failed to encounter? Or didn't quite follow up on? Wanna let us know about them now?

There were a few loosely sketched things like more islands beyond the mist. All-foxes island would be fun as well as several others, mostly for some shenanigans. As I came to realise I need to focus on plot-relevant spots both in terms of game time constraints and my availability those were chopped.

In addition, there was a plan to put no-Polynesian village with all the fanciness of it (masks, volcano rituals, spider legends etc.) but... see above. Someone would have to scale Fractured Gorges. There were some treasure caves too.

For existing locations, many had some hidden plot hooks but those could go operational only with a larger GM team.

Fuad & the Mamluks turned out to not draw too much attention. They could have given more insight into how things are among Ponies, could teach someone some badass musketry etc.

People who went out into the mist could almost always count on some spiritual/ancestral shenanigans so those opportunities were from your own sheets mostly.

Well, there was a Pecunia Non Olet miniquest at Guano Site where someone could hop into some quick wealth.

But all plot-relevant things happened. I didn't cut out anything that truly mattered and kept my teeth in it until it was done.

Neat!

What was your favorite scene?

Did you have an NPC that you had an unexpected amount of fun playing?

Anything where players really pleasantly surprised you?

We had some differences in the game, but thank you for running it. I know it was rough trying to keep everything done.

Thank you for the game. :)

And I apologise if things with Sanjuro didn't work out because of me. :(

Thank you for inviting me to play, and a great first experience with Legend of the Five Rings.

I know I bombarded you an awful lot via discord on questions and such, and I appreciate you for taking the time to answer them.

Were there expectations on your part on what I was doing, as either a player or the character? Anything that surprised you? Any criticisms that I could take to better enrich my own experience the rest of the campaign arc?

Thanks for running the game and for staying to it when the GM team got reduced.

That's a double-trap question to ask a GM. If I name my own, I am self-serving, if I name just one of others, I am doing favouritism. XD

So I'll go by subplots.

Quote:
Wataru - His path of sacrifice and defiance to be a worthy commander. It show we can become worthier people by failing.
Ran - Her spiritual journey, between Sadahako and Seisuka.
Ringo - Ringorillo theme and his efforts to create Rokugani cannons succeeding.
Tori - The heavenly flight
Edogawa - The uncovering of his Teodoro side and the Xantellado affair.
Zabieru - Zabi's uncovering of his family heritage and his turn toward the Dark Side.
Berena - Her Xantellado-related discoveries and the Silence subplot.
Anzai - His dealings with Juan and Hinami and sass battle.
Ruqqayah - Her internal/spiritual maturation (over many scenes) and karmic bond with Jama.
Susumu - Ra'Shari shenanigans and his command in battle.
Hinami - Huanu-romance and the emergence of the Spider Queen (with special mention to the forest ordeal)
Yasuhiro - His turbulent coming to terms with his jinness and all his 'stay true and no-nonsense' efforts.
Kaiya - Her growing into the role of the Woman with the Iron Heart.
Utsusemi - The Shadow Nightmare (as a culmination to the whole unfaithful wife subplot, which was great).
Kenzo - His involvement in the Saving Private Sanjuro subplot.
Haruka - The Tigerruka Twist
Keiji - His command in battle and his fooling around with Yubari (and his songs)
Akaichou - Sakkaku shenanigans on the beach

But many big events I found very memorable, beginning with Edo's foot in mouth, the trials at sea, etc., and ending in the battle against Hawthorne which from my perspective had many great and fluffy moments.

---

I focus on 'surprising' factor: Jama, Hawthorne & Juan. I knew Saionji, Yajinden, Odorihime, Amarillo and Alvaro would be fun. Some others had great potential but lack of hands on GM deck rendered them less than they could have been.

---

The most pleasant surprise came from the players who've remained with me in the game throughout despite its ups and downs, often offering their words of support when I was battered by OOC drama, tired and (twice) ill. I have always tried to do my biased best for those three months but had some truly gloomy times across that time, but whenever I was struggling one of you poked me with some positivity. It's not an in-game surprise (they've been quite a few), but the most important part for me. Thank you.

But they did! IC drama's cool. Without you, the conversion to Kharsis theme would have not happened as no PC has taken the path. :)

I didn't have expectations, it was your own character without firm hook in the plot, and the build favoured dice pools over obvious fluff detours. I think my general advice to you and some other players is to poke me to get involved in the plot whenever you feel sidelined and losing purpose. The impression that I focus on some players but not the others in plot relevance is not accurate from where I sit. Usually all a player needs to do is to signal a need, a preference, and give me some time and trust to implement it. I've learned that sometimes expectations are too high for me to accommodate them, or some RL issues like drops of other players can render my efforts falling flat, but I've always tried to be ready to give it an honest attempt. Some players who've stayed till the end were struggling mid-game but we've collectively managed to fix stuff for them to an extent that their desire for more centrality could be met and enjoyment restored.

As for the rest of the arc, bets should give you a set of firm hooks. Which I have been planning to finally write today!

Your golden four.

Highlight of the game?

Biggest regret?

Moment of desperation?

Dirtiest in-character thought?

#1. The story's told, with facts and lies. I live among you, well disguised. The games of luck our soldiers played, the stones we cut, the songs we made (aka plot got home, we had som fun)

#2. I had to leave my life behind. I dug some graves you’ll never find. (aka not enough RL processing power to get everything done)

#3. There is no need that this survive; There’s truth that lives and truth that dies. (aka whenver drops thinned the GM team and the cast to the point of making finishing the game with a conclusion much harder, and new were brewing but eventually mostly averted)

#4. Our law of peace which understands: a husband leads, a wife commands. (aka those thoughts Jama acted on with Ru)

So, the thing with Saionji had two interesting possibilities. What would have happened if it had gone the other way? And were there any other situations like that, where there were a couple of interesting possibilities and we only got to explore one? And if so, same follow up question. XD
