The Rokugani priestess was displeased with the notion of interacting with any other sort of religious practice. However, it was a potential lead for her longstanding Duty to her family, her liege lords, her Clan, and for her future children. She decided that proper Rokugani etiquette was the approach here and looked around for the first authority figure she could speak to.

Mahasin was peacefully sitting by the reflective pool, haloed the multicoloured shades of prismatic rays of setting sun. There was an aura of otherworldliness and sanctity to her silhouette, disconcerting for someone of a different confession and denomination. But it well could be a clever architectural trick of the deliberately impressive structure, well above many others on this relatively small island. The culture that knew how to awe and infuse religious humility and devotion just by how it built its temples was a threat to those whose hearts questioned the precepts of the Faith of the Lost Daughter.

The redhead took some steps forward but maintained a respectable distance. She peered at the tome and then back at the woman. "Greetings. Is Rokugani acceptable?" she inquired in a neutral tone. Though she still saw this as a Heresy, there was still potential wisdom to be found. Disrespect granted only more barriers.

"Barely. No ease. You no speak any other tongue?" The woman looked up and replied in a similarly neutral tone. "Curious but not frank about it?"

"Forgive me, please," she said with a faint smile. It was phrased to be courteous without her actually needing to say the words that she apologized. "It may have been a wise decision to have learned another language," she admitted, "But I do not want to belay the point." Akarei looked around at the mosque and then back to the woman before her. "I am curious about your religion. Back in Rokugan, our prayers have easily demonstrable effects. I can do so for you now, if you so desire," she offered passively, "But I would rather see yours. No doubt they accomplish something but I was more-so curious about the visual aspect."
