Yup. But it isn't one unit per one feature, but rather a proportion of the whole crew. On bigger ships more are seasoned. And on Keiji's ship they come with bonus capacity from drilling/motivating.

Yup, there are no reasons for more than 2 commanders.

Well, I suppose I should throw this out there before ship distribution.

Yasuhiro is unlikely to follow Susumu's lead. So it's best he gets put under the command of Keiji.

No offense to Susumu.

Mmh

Walrus-Stingray-Yamato to ground for Str 13, defense 16, +28 tactics
Kunshu-Grace for sea: 26, defence 44, tactics +39 (wow)

The Ashitae Maru is good both on land and on the sea...I say we keep as our trump card and ship it where the resistance is bigger. Beginning at sea and then perhaps reinforcements for the land assault (it might be needed)

is it too late for purchases?

i'd say yes it's too late for purchases, the ships have been posted and all.

As for the Ashitae on land,

i'm likely to fail the pass the rocks rolls. It's a possibility though.

Wataru wanted to make purchases and I would have wanted a few support for a land assault

Is Kunshu Mari unlikely to see much action? I ask because Ringo and Kenzo are both pretty tough, and might be more useful where they can generate heroic opportunities.

Both battles will be fairly hard but since the land forces will have a lower str+tactics...wait how will this play out? An enemy force at sea and a separate enemy force on land with different str/tactics?

I ask because in the Hunger game mass battle it was faily useless to have a second commander since only the highest roll counted.

Post subject:  Re: Retribution & Royal Bounty

it say's as much somewhere.

There will be two enemy forces with the same commander. (through dark magics)

So a land battle and a sea battle at the same time.

Post subject:  Re: Retribution & Royal Bounty

Yes but is it: One roll for sea+ sea bonuses and one roll for land+land bonuses

Or: One roll for all plus all bonuses.

(I would prefer option one)

Post subject:  Re: Retribution & Royal Bounty

Hathorne has one roll, but it adds different bonuses depending on troops in a land or sea battle. So One commander faces Hawthorne on land and the other at sea.

Okay.

I wish Wataru or I had bought scouts for the land battle :?

Kenzo and Ringo will be welcome in the land battle, we might really need the help

Crews are divided. They sail on Kunshu, no time for reshuffles unless Kunshu goes for landing.

But I will probably try to offer collective HOs so teams could fight.

Well if Yasu refuses to follow Susumu's lead then it is as it is

Post subject:  Re: Retribution & Royal Bounty

The best I could do is disembark my troops and return to battle.

They are three big ships out at sea after all. Chances are we will need three larger ships to counter them.

As for not following Susumu there are several reasons. Yasuhiro has more status then Susu, Susu is also from a minor clan, add onto that the mantis appeared at the ball in Gaijin clothes wearing a mask, and that's three srtikes. Yasu does not have a lot of faith in his fellow explorers at the moment, that includes Keiji, but too a lower degree. Technically speaking I'm already compromising Yasuhiros morals and not insisting he lead one of the teams. for sake of team play and higher chances of success all around. I got around that by saying Susumu picked over him. Which he took as a slap in the face, any more then that though? Unlikely to happen.

so with Kunshu x Ashitaeru x Grace at sea....

That puts us at +91 vs +105. We might need someone to disembark troops and join the sea battle. Depending on how that looks.

Boatswains stay on ships and may lead them back into naval shootout after disembarkation.

Post subject:  Re: Retribution & Royal Bounty

So, possibly dumb question, but is there any reason we can't have all 6 ships join the naval battle and ignore the enemy land forces until we win at sea? Then, instead of splitting our own forces, we could defeat the enemy in detail. It would make more sense in-character for us to ensure control of the waters before we send landing parties ashore anyway.

I expect we’ll see some action. It would probably be better gameplay for Keiji to keep his ship in the reserves, but That’s Not Who He Is.

Uh huh. I see your ship is carrying a Priest into battle. Some Traditionalist you are! :D (Just kidding)

Let’s say Yasuhiro is next in the chain of command of Keiji’s formation, so he can step up to take command after Keiji dies. Err, that is, if he dies.
