So, possibly dumb question, but is there any reason we can't have all 6 ships join the naval battle and ignore the enemy land forces until we win at sea? Then, instead of splitting our own forces, we could defeat the enemy in detail. It would make more sense in-character for us to ensure control of the waters before we send landing parties ashore anyway.

Is Kunshu Mari unlikely to see much action? I ask because Ringo and Kenzo are both pretty tough, and might be more useful where they can generate heroic opportunities.

I expect we’ll see some action. It would probably be better gameplay for Keiji to keep his ship in the reserves, but That’s Not Who He Is.

Yasu does not have a lot of faith in his fellow explorers at the moment, that includes Keiji, but too a lower degree. Technically speaking I'm already compromising Yasuhiros morals and not insisting he lead one of the teams. for sake of team play and higher chances of success all around.

Uh huh. I see your ship is carrying a Priest into battle. Some Traditionalist you are! :D (Just kidding)

Let’s say Yasuhiro is next in the chain of command of Keiji’s formation, so he can step up to take command after Keiji dies. Err, that is, if he dies.

One big reason is that if you do not engage their land forces you are crossfired with what their island packs with little to no ability to retaliate.

Shall we go with the division Susumu and Yasuhiro have worked out, then? This is:

Gusai Susumu wrote:
Walrus-Stingray-Yamato to ground for Str 13, defense 16, +28 tactics

and

Matsu Yasuhiro wrote:
Kunshu x Ashitaeru x Grace at sea....

That puts us at +91 vs +105.

We'll make up the shortfall with Heroic Opportunities! Yeah! :D

I'm fine with it.

Though to be fair it's the break down Kannon suggested.

Zabieru is also unlikely to follow either of the commanders and specially not an upstart Mantis.

Not only do they have less status than him but they're also a Lion and a Mantis. Maybe the best is to have Jama as one of the commanders?

Not that this is really any of my business anymore - but Jama put these people in these positions. Refusing to follow them is pretty much refusing to follow Jama's orders

What Sui said actually. If anyone does not follow the leader of his Jama-appointed battle group he's immediately deposed. If he's cocky and tries funny things, Suru will have a wordless, steelful chat with him. And if that's not good enough, I can deploy the Iuchibanny side of Jama. If the leader falls and a need for a new one comes up, then leadership may be for grabs, but whatever Jama can control pre-battle, he will. If later on you want to lose battle because of non-cooperation that's an acceptable story development, the consequences will be corresponding.

Though really, it would please this tired GM if there was no OOC drama on this last lap. This is the time Explorers/Navy operate as corps in official capacity.

Oh if they're appointed then Zab will follow. Begrudgingly bit yea.

Sorry for confusion. I said somewhere that while I let you decide OOCly, ICly those are Jama's decisions and have his full authority behind them (unless you decide something against his plan, that is).

To the Stingray and Yamato: do we try to sail the two steps in the first turn?

For the D-Dayers: disembarkment can start at Disengaged. You can sail into Engaged if you sail into the mouth of the big skull, but anything further is going ashore.

Post subject:  Re: Retribution & Royal Bounty

Ah! Disembarking into disengaged is probably the most tactically sound option I suppose?

Now that Ran and I are better at sailing, that's not a problem.

To be clear, I have no idea what's going on. I'll go wherever and do whatever is needed of me, but that's about all I can do. I've never cared much for mass battle and have little familiarity.

In essence: our 3 ships will storm the shore the fortifications to stop them from interfering with the naval combat

Quote:
Mass Battle Table Roll: Done by all. Roll your Battle Skill+1, keeping one, and adding your Water as a static bonus. If you do not have Battle, or spend a Void for it, your dice will not explode as normal. Those with Tactician may use that advantage with this roll.

Putting here for ease of checking by mass battlers

Quick ghosting instructions here.

Already made my Mass Battle 2 roll. Not sure when that comes up.

Keiji, do you want us to send the Yamato as reinforcement for the naval battle?

Like Kannon said we don't know what the port looks like
