Susumu has a choice to grab +5 to Tactics Roll from this to disengage or try to finish off the boatswain via normal skirmish.

Post subject:  Re: Hunger Games [Event, Mass Battle, LE9]

Wataru fought among his men, going to rescue the squadron that was out on the field. He was hit more than once, which was actually expected for him, since this was pretty much his first real battle, but it had been less than he had expected. One of the spiders hit him with it´s leg as it passed by, brushing him to the ground, though the armor got most of the damage, as well as his ego.

Kannon wrote:
A spider, grey and red, jumped up the cliff straight in front of Wataru. It rose on its back legs, clicking furiously with the rest in the air as its spiked gland turned toward the Teppodoka Commander...

Then Wataru was caught before a great spider, jumping from high up towards him, maybe recognizing he was giving the orders. The creature stood before him, as he looked and evaluated it, waiting for the moment for the creature to attempt its attack, mentally aiming for the weakest spot of the thing.

Ringo eyes the kumo and cautiously advances. When he is well away from any friendly units he lets the anger and rage wash over him. A berserker is unleashed upon the battlefield. Blood and death to come to anything in his path of destruction.

"AHHHhhhhHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!" He lets out a scream as the madness overtakes him.

[Ghost indeed! XD Dun-dun-dun!]

Image

The moment Ringo entered his frenzy a blue-green-yellow ectoplasm tore out of him, rushing forth and assuming the form of the shozai-gaki that had been possessing him since Dragon's Guard, the infamous corsair once in service of the Merenaese crown, Rey de Amarillo.

"FREE AT LAST!"

The hungry ghost passed over the spider and flew out of the cave.

"CARCOSA! FROM THE DEPTHS OF THE VENGEFUL SEA, I SUMMON THEE, CARCOSA!"

The sea recoiled and started to answer to the call of the King in Yellow.

The kumo bounced sideways...

[Ringo]

Even though the spider bade its time for Ringo to rush into its tainted grasp [Delay Initiative], and timed its approach well [Free Move 20'] it got distracted by the passage of the King in Yellow and failed to dig its fangs into Ringo.

It tried again the moment after, before the frenzied Crab would manage to hit it, and the fangs finally caught flesh...

Wataru felt the creatures attack coming up, and as the creature prepared it's leap, the samurai was already set for his attack as his gun came up with a powerful blow against the creature before it could even react.

The spider was slowly preparing Ringo for his fate by injecting more poison...

LE9. Kumo vs. Ringo. Attack. Round #3. Damage: 6d10o10k2 16

[11 Wounds after Reduction, for the sum of 32. Still Grappled, -0.3 Jade capacity in sum, under the influence of venom - Dazed & Crazed]

LE9. Kumo vs. Ringo. Grapple Control: 5d10 27

LE9. Kumo vs. Ringo. Vs. Dazed & Grapple Control: 4d10 36 3d10 10

LE9. Kumo vs. Ringo. Damage Again.: 6d10o10k2 23

[18 Wounds after Reduction, for the sum of 75. Still Grappled, -0.8 Jade capacity in sum, under the influence of venom - Dazed & Crazed]

...and with that, the sliver of his conscious mind was wiped away, and his subliminal raging followed soon after. The partially dismembered kumo still managed to grasp his limp, wriggling body amid its fast-moving legs as the gland started sprouting the web he was being wrapped up in. Coated in Tainted enzymes, his form was slowly disappearing within a yellowish cocoon even as many other kumo were now pouring into the caves of the lepers who, now without their Crab protector, could only count on the power of gunpowder. Seeing what had just happened with the strongest of them, they didn't hold much hope...

[Duel is lost; -5 to Tactics Roll for Susumu. Ringo is out of battle and suspended in the state of near-death in the cocoon, unable to regain wounds by himself. The jade he possesses will protect him from contracting Taint for 6 hours, so until EM10]

...and as the skeletal crew scrambled to do her bidding and turn the ship, and the crews of the Stingray and the Walrus hurted to respond, the waters to their side began to part and a shape to emerge from them. Masts first, sails covered in sargasso, the brown algae patching where the fabric had been torn, and finally the shape of a carrack... The very same that in the first half of the past century had spread terror in the Narrow Seas of the West until it had joined La Armada Real and had sailed for Rokugan to meet its fate at the Battle of White Stag and seal it at the shores of Dragon's Guard.

Carcosa.

That fate was now being reversed, as it was rising from the waves, with its captain Rey de Amarillo at the steering wheel, and the crew of sargasso nightmares scuttling, preparing the cannon holds.

''Thunder god, grant us strenght'' he say to himself holding his jade pendant in the effigy of Osano-wo

Things were not good...and with the Carcossa rising up from the depths things might be worse very soon. He clanched his jaws while eyeing the marines's battlement...then turn to see the spiders enter the caves...and then back at Tori's ship.

''Better beg for forgiveness then ask for permission'' he finished before turning to bellow his commands and sending the signals

''The spiders and the accursed ship's leadership are exposed! Let us send them back to the rotten abyss they crawled out of!''
