Tori spurs her crew to follow the Walrus' command, even as her already pale face goes ghostly.

So long as she has strength, though, she leads her crew.

((Mass Battle Roll: 2d10o10k1+2 8. Oof. I'm gonna have to keep the four. Four dice of wounds, one glory. This is gonna suck.
Damage: 4d10o10 16, 38 wounds, out. One wound away from dead WITHOUT tapping my great destiny.))

Dark Minions infested these lands. Lost within some plain of smoke and mirrors, the Mist, Kaiya fought her way through alone. Fighting toward the direction she knew lay the city she had come from to find herself in this place. Sounds of battle raged on around her. Forcing upon her the harsh reality that this was much larger than herself.

Cutting her way through what minions inhibited her path.

Wataru trotted back behind the line of the teppodoka and began cleaning the barrel of his pistol before he replaced powder and shot within it. It was only this momentary distraction between when he recovered from repelling the kumo's assault to when he turned back to his signalman that he noticed orders had already been given and passed along. His eyes narrowed slightly and he scanned the distance of the battle line, quickly noting that the orders had been sent from the Walrus. Still, half a plan was better than no plan at all. And if he felt any resentment he buried it deep within himself to feel after the battle had passed. Yet even as he did so, one of the fiendish pieces of artillery exhaled a gout of flame. The shell whistled through the air. Wataru had only a moment's glimpse of a dark metal ball with a crackling fuse at the end before it exploded and his vision wavered black while his body was riddled with iron fragments and pain.

Heroic opportunity: parley with Rey

Post subject:  Re: Hunger Games [Event, Mass Battle, LE9]

"HA, SAME DILEMMAS ALL OVER AGAIN! TO SHOOT THE THRANISH, OR THE IMPERIOS?" Rey pointed to Susumu with his cutlass across the water dividing their ships. "I KNOW YOU. YOU WERE WITH THE ADMIRAL BACK THEN."

Susumu: Roll an Awareness/Social Roll vs. TN20. The selected skill and the angle will have impact on the next step of this Heroic Opportunity. Raises on this roll will give FRs for future rolls in this Heroic Opportunity.

Susumu grinned wide and made a little curtsy to the spectral captain

''Ah! Of course you remember me, I like to think I make quite the impression...even if we did'nt previously meet in the best of circumstances''

He raised a leg to his ship's railing and leaned over

''I wish to parley Captain of the Carcossa. Will you hear me? I believe we can reach an understanding...''

[1 FR for one of the following rolls.]

"I WILL PARLEY WITH YOU, LIKE A CAPTAIN WITH A CAPTAIN, NOT A WHORE WITH A PONCE! WE SAIL RIGHT ACROSS THAT THRANISH LINE OF FIRE, YOU AND I! THE VESSEL THAT FRAMES THE OTHER TO TAKE THE HIT WINS! TO THE WHEELS!"

[This uses the Iaijutsu Duel mechanics, except on Sailing (Navigation)! Assessment is with Perception, Focus is with Intelligence, Strike is with Reflexes. The losing vessel loses 1 Capacity i.e. 2 Defence. If Susumu wins, Carcosa joins their side. If he loses, it sails away.]

Amarillo scanned the waters before them, marking a clear pathway for himself and a perilous for Susumu...

He then set the steady course, giving his sargasso minions telekinetic and psychic orders...

Susumu tilted his head and rejoiced within himself

''Now this...this is my kind of duel''

Not wasting more time he issued his orders

The Carcossa had gotten slightly ahead of the Walrus but Susumu made sure he would not gain any significant advantage

HO Sailing duel vs Rey, assesment, wound penalties 19

They were neck to neck until the final moment when the Walrus gained a burst of speed to rob the Carcossa of its positionning

[Duel won! Rey joins Susumu's littoral army.]

The King in Yellow roared in laughter when grapeshots dug deep in Carcosa's port.

"MISS ROWAN, WE SHALL MATE TONIGHT AGAIN, AT THE BOTTOM OF THE SEA!"

And he signalled for Susumu that he would pincer the Eternal from the bow.

Turn #2 Resolution

[The battle in Turn #2 was a stalemate]

Wataru: 4 Dice Wounds, .1 Glory [Resolved; 29 Wounds]
Kaiya: 4 Dice Wounds, .1 Glory [Resolved; 20 Wounds]
Tori: 4 Dice Wounds, Heroic Opportunity [Resolved; 38 Wounds, Out]
Susumu: 3 Dice Wounds, Heroic Opportunity [11 Wounds]

---

Turn #3

As the battle enters the final stage and moves to the rim of the cliffs, Kaiya and Wataru disengage; the latter, with his troops commandeered by his protector and senior in the Clan, has to accept the bitter pill of his authority being disregarded for the sake of convenience... or survival? Still, with the massive realignment and the sudden entry of the heavy-hitting Carcosa, the situation changes dramatically in favour of the Rokugani forces. While the Leper Caves have been overrun by kumo and Tori has fallen, having been shot with an arquebuse, her boatswain took over navigating the Stingray and now both Imperial vessels were closing in, preparing to board the Eternal as it had to fend off from the raging cannons of the sargasso vessel. Dierdre was preparing to toss the smaller vessels off with cannonfire in a last daring upturn, but the path to outmanoeuvre three ships in shallow waters was looking increasingly implausible. Still, she had to teach Rey a lesson to take no for an answer...

Image

"UNFURL THE MIZEN!"

...and it looked like she just might have been able to do it, entering a clear position to grace all ships involved with a massive payload from both boards...

''DO NOT FEAR'' the Mantis yelled out, returning to his ship's command ''This is it, grit your teeth and show these rotten abomination that the Walrus does not cower before danger!''

The Imperial fleet sailed to the Eternal's second flank as the marines showered molten rain on the Kumo when the infernal salvo came. Still, the Rokugani faced the fire with matching determination.

As Wataru was falling back, a spider snuck up at his back and with a swing dug the stinger deep into him. The man coughed out blood and collapsed motionless...

Post subject:  Re: Hunger Games [Event, Mass Battle, LE9]

As the Eternal was sailing out, it delivered a beating onto both Imperial vessels, only to be paid back by Carcos; the fight on the cliffs continued to be bloody, but the spiders were falling back, or rather off or beneath, either crashing on the cliffs below or returning to their numerous entries to the underworld.

[Battle End!]

LE9. Resolution.: 1d10o10 4+4 (Battle) +4 (Water) +14 (Strength) -1 Net HO +1 Net Duel = 26 vs. 35

---

The victory was hard-won, but the long and the short of it was that the invasion force was falling back that the invading force was now falling back wherever it could, battered and scattered.

Casualties:

Hawthorne's Avantgarde suffers 9 Damage, Imperial Deployment suffers 4 Damage to the main force (not Carcosa), as the battle was a bloody stalemate until the end.
