''Battered and in need of serious repairs, except for the Walrus and the Stingray I believe.'' he admitted when he rose himself, slapping his hands together to dislodge the sand

''The Kunshu Maru is the worst hit but it could still float when I made my report''

"Good." His smiled held a hint of pride. "Sounds like I have some work to do, though."

''You have no idea...but you might want to see the surgeon first''

He looked over to where Kaiya had gone

''Should we go after her?''

He nodded. "She shouldn't be far. Have you seen much of the island?"

''Not really no'' he sported a wolfish grin

''But I won't waste any time, I assure you''

"Good." he mirrored the grin. "You should consider charting the northern waters and exploring the islands there. The admiral would like to establish a separate port for the navy."

He raised an eyebrow

''The northern waters?''

He looked to the north. "I assume we are on the main island. The waters to the north are dangerous, with hidden rocks and shoals. There are islands there that likely haven't been inhabited. But, it's possible Garen Hawthorne explored them. He knew these islands fairly well."

The Mantis was dubious

''So...not an official port''

"Why wouldn't it be official?" he asked. "If the Exploerers intend to operate in this area, it would be best not to crowd those already here, don't you think?"

He looked a Edogawa seriously

''I don't know about the other ports here...but I am not stupid. Dangerous waters with hidden rocks and shoals makes for a poor location for a Port...a reason that the island may not be inhabited. Establishing a port there with so many inexperianced Captain, First mates and sailors is folly. If Hawthorne is the only one to have explored the place then that proves my point.''

He leaned towards the imperial with a smirk

''May I remind you that I am a Mantis?''

"Unofficial and difficult to access are two different things, my Mantis friend." he grinned. "And, we won't know what's there or what we can make of it until we see it for ourselves."

''Are you sure they are? We can hardly receive any ship save the ones who can manage the dangers...seems more like a smuggler's port to me''

He grinned wider

''And Hawthorne might had one there?''

"The Exploers would only need to receive their own ships." he shrugged. "Trade and diplomacy would still fall to the Tortoise port. Regardless, I would like to know if Hawthorne had anything in those islands."

''Ah!''

He nodded

''You really just want to find something there''

"I do." he nodded. "The navy wants potential resources or a port. I want to explore. I want to see if there's anything to find."

He considers it for a moment

''I surely can help with that...I am quite certain you won't explore a reef infested region with Jama's capital ship.''

He paced for a moment

''But I think we'll need to get informantion from the locals first, even legends if needs be. Have you come to this island before?''

"I recommended that the smaller ships handle the charting, but I'm sure the others will try." He shrugged. "I have been here, but only once and I don't recall much of it. It was Amarillo who told me about Hawthorne."

''He is still around I see''

He frowned

''You don't suppose he's searching for something? We will need to watch him in any case''

Moving hurt, everything hurt, what she hoped was more of a right in the moment pain turned out to just be an overbearing soreness she seemed to have to find a way to deal with for awhile. Still, albeit it was a relatively small place she managed to find a coconut that had fallen to the ground somewhere. Splitting it open elsewhere she returned to where Edogawa was supposed to be with both halves in hand.

Kaiya's surprise to find Susumu here already was evident.
