The base cost for this advantage has been lowered to 4 to reflect the greater availability of gaijin items in the era. The Mantis, Crab, and Crane all receive a 1 point discount and Tortoise characters receive a 2 point discount. |

Examples of weapons that can be obtained via this Advantage (the list will be growing in response to inquiries): Quote: Cutlass* Medium DR 2k2 Special: Reroll one Damage die per round that has rolled lower than the wielder's Strength Quote: Rapier* Medium DR 2k1 Special: The wielder can use Reflexes for Attack and Damage rolls * Gaijin blades can be used by Rokugani with Kenjutsu Skill but suffer +5 TN to Attack rolls done with them until some proficiency is attained through IC commitment to getting trained in their use (usually best represented by getting a related Emphasis, with sufficient justification). For PCs with gaijin background it can be the other way around, +5 TN when they try to use Katana or other Rokugani swords. While the latter can call their primary swordsmanship skill Swords, for the sake of prudence it is being treated as Kenjutsu for all other mechanical purposes. The same rule would apply to Knives, Spears, etc. |
