Your character cannot have children. The reasons for this may be numerous, it can be either an inborn or acquired condition. For men, one of the possible explanations is castration. In Rokugan, infertility is a great social stigma and if it is identified but hidden before family, nakodo or betrothed it is a reason to take Dark Secret alongside this Disadvantage. Samurai are supposed to have children and their inability to conceive them is a serious failure of Duty, especially in the Crab Clan high death rates of which necessitate numerous progeny. If the condition is known (or physically obvious) it practically destroys the character's marital prospects and thus bars him or her from taking such Advantages like Blissful Betrothal or Imperial Spouse except for rare cases GM approves of. If any kind of marriage nonetheless happens, it is almost inevitably Bitter Betrothal - this Disadvantage has to be taken then with no gain in points. In addition, unless special circumstances occur (see below), acquiring Social Position and Allies is more difficult and costs 1 point more each. GM may rule this penalty applies to other Material or Social Advantages as fewer boons are allocated to those who cannot extend the bloodline.

The exceptions would include selected groups of Seppun miharu or the Empress' Guard, at least historically. It was a tacit requirement for many of those who wished to spend their lives protecting the Empress, the Emperor's concubines or Imperial princesses to be eunuchs, just in case, and both the Seppun and the Doji (and sometimes the Kakita) took the sacrifice to speed up their careers. However, ever since Hantei Retsuhime castration of those guards has been actively discouraged as the Empress herself demanded to be protected by 'real men'. Still, such men hold some value in some sections of the Imperial Families where female scion's virginity is too important for the parents to leave things to chance.

Infertility has far less social stigma among the contemporary Unicorn. It's an inconvenience that can be turned into an advantage as this is basically a prerequisite for the Mamluks to reap full benefits of devsirme, the practice of military slavery instated by the Tarkhan Hulagu during the war with the Sheel Kingdom. Those who seek advancement beyond Mamluk rank and file need to pose no threat to the centrality of the administration, like by matching their rising rank with possession of progeny. They have to be castrated and childless, and this is strictly enforced because of various ethnic and political backgrounds the Mamluk cadets come from. It goes without saying that they cannot marry or adopt children either, but their eunuchdom provides no sense of social stigma, just a different kind of pride.

This Disadvantage is worth 3 points for the Crab and 1 point for the Unicorn.
