Something about your features is off. The barbarians to the north look mostly like Rokugani but there is something about their appearance that marks them as different. Other gaijin are even more clearly discernible. You too possess that quality that sets you apart from the rest of the Rokugani, whether by accident or because one of your ancestors was a gaijin. You find traditionally minded samurai harder to deal with. You suffer a penalty to all Social Skill Rolls of +5 to TN when dealing with NPC members of Traditional families and +10 to TN when dealing with members of Very Traditional families. The GM may decide it also applies to other NPCs with that mindset or it does not apply to some NPCs from Traditional or Very Traditional families because they do not share that mindset. However, when you pick the Disadvantage select a gaijin faction members of which you resemble. If the GM agrees to your choice, you receive +1k0 to all Social Skill Rolls with members of that faction. This Disadvantage is worth 2 points to Dragon, Phoenix, Badger, Unicorn, Mantis, Fox, Centipede, Sparrow and Tortoise characters. |
