While his crew checked inventory and inspected equipment, Edogawa stood on the deck of the Yamato Maru, lighting a brazier at the bow of the ship. The fire leapt to life, burning brightly, even in the morning sunlight. He poured a cup of sake into the flames and then tossed another into the sea. |
