The party had quieted, the sailors retiring to their bunks or the mess to gamble in the peace and quiet, knowing that as long as they kept things peaceful they'd suffer no retribution tonight. Rokuro, on the other hand, had made his way to the aft deck, leaning against the railing and gazing up at the sky. He remembered the feeling of removing that sailor's head; it was not one he was alien to, but one he would, he hoped, never grow accustomed to. For the first time on the journey, he felt a little queasy, and one hand rubbed his own neck, thoughtfully. He wondered if there was time for pain. Hopefully, he'd never know. |
