She hadn't slept well. Ran had tossed and turned, trapped somewhere between the lines of awake and asleep, caught in a nightmare. It had been a fretful night, and she woke up exhausted. Exiting the crewhold, she came to find many of the crew were experiencing a kind of sickness.
