"To forget one is Samurai is to abandon one's Lord. There is no thought's to service there Asahina-sama, at least as far as I can see." If any Lion were to commit such a transgression, he could see only one result. Death.

He follows her lead as the young woman partakes in the Persimmon, enjoying the flavor himself. It was too bad he hadn't packed more, they'd never make it to where they were going. "A seed library? That sounds like quite the bold task as well. Do you think the seeds will take to the gaijin soil?"

Oh, dear Lion. Always so stark.

Tori elects not to express a more nuanced view of the world, however.

"That is an interesting question. One certainly worth finding out. I've selected plants appropriate to the climate we expect to see, and the types of soil common on islands, so I believe they are promising. If they do not take? Well, that would be disappointing, but it would be useful information."

"Learning even in failure." That earned a nod of approval from the lion before he took another sip of his tea. "That is quite admirable Asahina-sama, I'm sure you will do your clan and the Naval College proud on this expedition."

"Failure is the foundation of learning," Tori says simply. "How many times have you been knocked down in the dojo, and gotten right back up? How much of a warrior would you be today if you never faced opponents who could knock you down?"

"There is a little bit of a difference between failure in the dojo, and failure on the battlefield Asahina-sama. The latter you general don't get back up from. I can't say if such is similar between the classroom and the field though." That was followed by a sip of his tea and a smile. "Still there is wisdom in your words, there is much to be learned from failure."

"I believe these seeds of yours are in good hands."
