Arts and Tea Ceremony? Anzai had a good idea of who that was, but didn't say it out loud. "I can understand that drive. The desire to learn about others. It's why I've taken to studying languages." A pause for a moment, then a small chuckle.

"But I guess it is difficult to learn a culture from only language studies."

She smiled and nodded in agreement. "It is... but it's a good start! And you can learn a bit about how people think and whatnot from language. Especially idioms, but sometimes just the structure of a language. Like..." She thinks for a second. "Rokugani doesn't have a future tense, but Mekhem does."

"Mekhem also seems much more adept at being direct. Like how Merenaese is much more colored by..." Again, that look, a small laugh. "...Passions. I hope to continue my studies here to just delve into those mysteries of various tongues."

"Yes... Directness, and there's much more language for dealing with transactions, since it's more accepted in the culture of the Burning Sands than in Rokugan," she replies with a nod. "Yes... Merenaese can very flowery-sounding. Passions is right... it's a good language for writing about love and such."

"I am finding Mekhem has it's..." He paused, and it seemed as if his mental faculties could be seen working for the right word. "... Pretty words, as well. Or maybe it's my seeing who speaks it with me." There was a devil in his smile, before he continued.

"I hope to visit both Merenae and the Burning Sands some time. To truly immerse myself in the languages. And culture. A friend of mine told me about a scandalous region of Merenae that sounds simply divine."
