The Belching Parrot is not the highest class place, and can seem unwelcoming at first approach. But this is mostly because there's almost always someone arguing or getting into a fight. The owner, Isambard Leigh Moss, is a regular fixture in the place and is often found sitting at his table with the stuffed namesake of the tavern sitting on a large perch as a centerpiece, clearly visible to anyone in the place. Roger the parrot is a bit worse for wear with missing feathers, an eye hanging out, and a crooked wing that looks like it's tied back on, stuck in a perpetual pose as though he were belching. And to hear the old timers tell it he could belt those belches out with the best of them when he got drunk.
This place, unlike La Gata Salvaje, has been doing business as a tavern for a long time. Far longer than any other place on the island, so the regulars and the owner are a trove of information on the island's history as much as current events. You just have to get past the smell of old sweat and maybe get someone drunk enough to talk your ear off and you can get a proper history lesson... likely in Thranish. But be ready to trade blows if you're not familiar enough with their lifestyle to not offend their delicate sailor sensibilities.
This also happens to be where the most skilled tattoo artist on the island makes his office. Though most skilled is of course a relative term. As long as you just want simple writing and don't mind having a permanent artistic disappointment on your skin he can provide what you need. And with the piracy the Thranish are known for, it's common to see pirate colors tattooed onto many of the patrons. Getting a pirate to open up about their business might be a bit harder, but with drink flowing... who knows.
