A successful hunt called for a celebratory drink. At least that was the premise that took Khenbish to the Belching Parrot. Of all the East Port, he could think of nowhere less appealing - though he imagined the West Port might be up to the task - but he had to start somewhere. The moment he entered, he was reassured of his decision not to have the Ide accompany him. They’d get no information if things descended into a bar brawl, and no doubt something the girl said or did would set someone off. First things first. Khenbish found a seat with a decent view of the room, and ordered a beer. |

The place had its steady clientele, and it has just started to pour in ahead of the evening drinking. Roger's dead gaze rested on throngs of sailors eager to waste themselves with cheap grog or watered beer (much harder). Isambard Moss, the old pirate-owner of the place, was already sitting behind the bar, sending wenches around. One of them brought Khenbish his beer. The Unicorn were accepted here without much brow-raising, and his facial disfigurement was nothing compared to some hideous scars and missing parts some of the patrons showcased. |

Sipping his beer, Khenbish scanned the room for any peg-legs. He'd known that there would have been any number of one-legged men on the island, amongst the pirates, the privateers, and even the merchant sailors. Shifting slightly so he could feel the weight of his parangu at his hip; if things went south, the Shinjo he had trained under had taught him defensive techniques he was not too proud to use. The beer was weak, and that suited his purpose. He skolled the mug, and waved for another. |

There were several. Old Isambard Leigh Moss, the owner, was among them. He was sitting on the stool and watching the guests coming, greeting some of them between sending wenches around. |

Khenbish waited. He didn't think anyone was paying much attention, but he allowed several minutes to pass anyway. Eventually, he got up from his seat; he wavered a little as he crossed to where the proprietor sat. Loudly he announced, "I need another drink, good man! Today I am cele- celebrating!" |

Khenbish didn't understand any Thranish, apart from, perhaps, the word whiskey. But he nodded in an exaggerated manner, glancing around to see if he was starting to draw any attention yet. "Ashk, ashk me why I'm celebrating," he affected a slur. He turned and addressed the bar in general, "who wantsh to celebrate with me? Let'sh drink!" |

"EY, THIS GARRAN WILL PEY FOR AWTHING!" Someone shouted, and a crowd assaulted the bar. Isambard started pulling out whisky with a toothless grin. |

Interesting, Khenbish observed coldly. With feigned drunkenness, he spoke to the nearest person who looked like they might be half listening. "Drink up, caushe I'm goin' be rich! I'll be sho rich, I could buy this place. That rich!" |
