Post subject:  Unloading (Day 7 late afternoon)

Kunshu Maru had arrived in the East Port that afternoon, and Captain Kitsu Keiji was supervising unloading of cargo. Strictly speaking, the boatswain was actually overseeing the longshoremen carrying boxes down the gangplank, while Keiji was 'supervising' the boatswain by standing on the pier next to the local merchant factor, who was counting off the boxes as they came down the gangplank.

Keiji assumed what he thought of as a captainly expression and nodded gravely each time the man made a small tick mark in his ledger. The run from West Port had been something of a 'milk run', but the Lion captain understood that a few such easy shipments were important to build up the local merchants' confidence in the reliability of Kunshu Maru and her captain.
