I've noticed a few carrying drills over to actions on future days, choosing which ones for it to count for and stacking them.

Going by how its worded:

1) Can you stack multiple drills? As worded, if you do drills then drills...you're just boosting the drills? Or does it boost the next non-drills

2) Do you choose when the drills would boost something - or is it all on the next action (aka for everyone, the repairs)?

At what point is the 'free' repair action happening from Boatswain? I assume it happens D4, but can it be done after other actions, and if it is how does this effect other actions?

Would this then use up previous sessions drills? Or do drills not carry over from previous sessions

If the Drill was the very last action for session #1, it would carry over to the first action of session #2.

I've split this into two posts as this is a bit longer than the previous comment:

First of all - thank you for clearing up squad actions! That's huge :D they're really cool, but everyone seemed to be doing them differently, so having some structure is gonna help a lot.

#1. Yeah, I think Drills/Repairs are fine to be done off-screen if you can get more mileage out of your roleplay elsewhere. We can assume in such cases Boatswain takes over.

#2. I think you may want to try to agree this between captains. You can send two ships after one adventure, no problem with that. Those that get it for D5 may wait for the next time till the others get their chance for D6, to ensure some rotation and not make exploration a domain of just one boat. By crew I meant PC crew. Your DP crews are still there, but ships have to be commanded and manned by NPCs. I won't run a module for less than 3 active PCs I won't have to ghost through it. Particularly because if it doesn't finish by day's end we have a problem of it stealing timeslots of roleplaying for the next IC days as people hang in limbo, something I will want to avoid at all costs, aborting the module included.

So before you declare exploring, commit to it. Organise a team that can hop into it on first RL day of an IC day and proceed dynamically. For now, try to organise first foray for D5. Let's say West Port boats and Yamato are free to participate in it, Sui and/or Susu would do good meeting Juanito, Fuad, Mahasin or Goncalo to get their clearance. But it's also affected by the Tension dynamics. The more gaijin like you, the more freedom you have. Well, you can also just try to take your boat and leave port without clearance. It's possible, but will have story consequences.

Miya Herald is an insta-trigger of the Imperial Explorers tech, but it can also have fluff and light-mechanical influence over exploration, sure. We'll go there when we get there.

Also, so as not to fully deny trade actions to no-cargo ships, let's agree that if you commit the Trade action you release your DP crews to work for the day in the port, and get the amount of koku the mechanics suggests. It just means that your shipwrights and stevedores etc. are not available for sailing during this IC day so other actions can't be taken until the next.

Some squadron management questions of my own:

1. Are squadron actions for the whole session, or declared per day? I thought it was for the whole session, so figured the Repair, Trade, Exploration etc. would be spread over the next few game days. I'm fine either way, just let us know what works best for you.

2. What do you mean we have no cargo? We have a whole shipload of monks and artisans to trade for local goods! How much can we sell these guys for? :D :D Just kidding! Do you want us to spend a "squadron action" transferring these guys into their new home, or do we need to do some sort of negotiations before setting up a shrine is possible? Or, if they're stuck on the ship until we get a temple permit, can we have the artists make something that can be traded?

3. After repairs are done I'd actually like to sail around the island once in order to map the correct shape of the coastline, the location of reefs and navigational hazards and the like. It doesn't have to be a whole adventure thread (unless you want it to be), I'd just like to have IC knowledge of the local waters. Is this OK? Would it be an Exploration action?

#1. Per session, that is correct. But declaring them could be done gradually as opportunities come, not ahead for both days on D4.

#2. Actually, if you release those artisans/religious workers to the port to do their stuff, that can count as Trade action without compromising your crew (akhem, there is a monkless shrine Utsu/Kenzo can tell you about, khem). But they are technically under Bellena or Utsu, so work with them how it could go? They may not be returning on board either, so it can probably be done just once.

#3. This would be fine, except the northern waters, so if you do a west-south-east horseshoe, that's cool, and counts.

Feedback for the CRIB-Even:

Can people work together to find a place to stay? I'm probably not speaking for just myself when I say that my character would prefer to not live alone but stay with other characters.
(also cheaper for those loans of 20 silver, less forces spread out for command to worry about, and safety in numbers)

For sanity: yes, but on the fluff level. It does not affect rolls or other costs. Bigger loci that accommodate bigger amount of people have proportionall bigger upkeep, and bonuses for the house are individual-based and are purchased by each player separately as his or her reward. Also, too much concentration in one place is not actually part of Jama's design behind 'go, spread out'.
